Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell if my catnip is expired? Where is the expiration date?

Catnip is the freshest within the first 6 months. It does not expire/go bad if stored in a dry place and is not exposed to any moisture. It will just slowly dry out over time. You can reinvigorate the catnip oils by rubbing it between your fingers. You can determine the date of production by a code stamped on the bottle. It is six digits followed by one or two letters and represents the year, month, and day of production – YYMMDD.

How do I use catnip and/or silvervine with my cat? Is it safe for them to eat?

Catnip and silvervine are safe and non-toxic. Some cats enjoy rolling in it, others enjoy eating it. You can sprinkle it in food or on the ground, or any surface you want your cat to interact with – scratchers, toys, beds, etc. Cats have different sensitivities to catnip and silvervine so always start with a small amount first and go from there.

Why does my cat not respond to the catnip/silvervine?

Cats have different sensitivities and preferences for catnip and silvervine that can vary by the grow location, or the formulation (loose, compressed, mist, etc.). Cats who are 6 months and younger do not respond to catnip/silvervine, and some cats do not respond at all due to genetic variances.

Why is the ‘Scratch Not Spray’ not deterring my cat from scratching?

While the spray successfully deters many cats from scratching, unfortunately, not all cats respond in the same manner as their sensitivity to the deterring ingredients varies. We do recommend having other scratching surfaces available for your cat as they need to scratch to keep their claws healthy
